Death of Monsignor Corcoran,

Msgr. Lawrence Corcoran passed away in his sleep on, August 31, 2009. He had been a resident of The Villas at St. Therese for the past several months since living at the Holy Cross Parish Rectory for many years.

Msgr. Corcoran was the "Father" of The Society of St. Vincent de Paul in the Columbus Diocese since the early 1950's when Bishop Ready asked that he get the Society started here. As our Spiritual Advisor over the years he has guided us as we expanded the number of conferences in our Parishes and began St. Lawrence Haven, The Saturday Morning Food Program, and The Clothing Distribution Center.

His funeral was Saturday, September 5, at 10:00 am at Holy Cross Church at 5th and Rich Streets in Columbus.

May his soul rest in peace as we reflect his leadership and teachings in the work that we do as Vincentians.

Bill Sparks
Diocesan Council President
The Society of St. Vincent de Paul
